  5. Blasting Protein Lies (Part 1): You Must Eat Meat To Get Your Protein

Common question: “If I don’t eat meat where do I get
my protein?”

Right answer: PLANTS!

Really? We don’t have to eat meat to get enough protein?

That’s right! Shockingly, plants provide
all the protein we need. (click here)

What? We were raised, just like our parents, grandparents,
and great grandparents, and generations before them, to
believe that we must eat meat to get our protein.

And now you’re saying PLANTS provide all the protein we need?
As in fruits and vegetables? Whole grains and beans?

In a word, yes.

Obviously, this is beyond confusing. It rattles us to the
very core.

Nonetheless, we’ve been thoroughly brainwashed by
protein myths, misconceptions, deception, and lies.
Call it what you will.

In the end, the result is the same: pervasive cultural
protein/meat madness sabotaging our health.

We’ve been duped by the mighty protein
powers-that-be
for so long, so many
generations, that our brains default to
meat when we think about protein.

In fact, to most, meat is interchangeable with protein.
Example: in restaurants, they now often ask, “Would you l
ike protein with your salad?” Meaning some kind of meat, of course.

Let’s take this step by step. Using our common sense.

Wow! Check Out the Elephants!

What is protein for? Growth.

And a whole lot of other things essential to life, like production
of hormones, enzymes, antibodies, transport of oxygen, and
much more.

For now, let’s stick with growth. Growth, repair, and function
of all our cells.

Look at a few of our large, steel-strong animals.

Like elephants.

What provides the necessary protein to grow an elephant’s
huge muscles and bones?

PLANTS.

Elephants don’t eat turkey (like in the cartoon above), beef,
chicken, or even fish. Plants source all the protein they need.

Moreover, cows don’t eat cows. They eat plants for protein.
Same for giraffes, koala bears, kangaroos, lamas, horses,
sheep, goats, and apes. Wait! Take that back. Apes eat
grubs too.

Seems to me that if these animals can grow big, powerful cells,
muscles, and bones by eating only plant foods, then so can we
with our comparatively puny, little bodies!

Perfect Food for Fast-Growing Babies

Any idea just how much protein humans need for growth and
good health?

Well, let’s think about this. When do human beings grow the most?

From 0 to 2 years old. Babies grow crazy fast.

What’s the perfect food with just the right
amount of protein for babies?

Breast milk. How much protein is in human
breast milk? 4.5% protein.

Logically so, the World Health Organization,
as well as many other
health experts,
recommend 4.5 to 5% protein in our diets.

We don’t need 45%, 30%, or even 15% protein. 5% protein
is enough.

Protein in Plant Foods

Plant foods contain different percentages of protein, none of
which hits that low 5%.

  • Brown Rice: 8%
  • Cantaloupe: 9%
  • Carrots: 10%
  • Cucumbers: 24%
  • Grapefruits: 8%
  • Kidney Beans: 26%
  • Potatoes: 11%
  • Romaine Lettuce: 34%
  • Spinach: 49%
  • Tomatoes: 16%

Getting the idea? Plant foods provide
plenty of protein.

AND . . . no need to mix and match plant foods to get a
so-called “complete protein.” Another myth. Your smart
body automatically does that for you!

Protein Overload in Animal Products

On the other hand, animal products are overloaded
with protein:

  • Milk: 21%
  • Eggs: 33%
  • Chicken: 61%
  • Beef: 26%
  • Turkey: 68%

Animal products are not only excessively high in protein, but also
high in fat and cholesterol.

Too Much Protein is Dangerous to Your Health

So what if we eat too much meat and protein?

What’s the big deal?

It’s a huge, health-sabotaging deal revealed in Blasting Protein
Lies, Part 4 of this protein series. click here

Suffice to say that consuming too much protein is linked to serious
health issues: cancer, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes,
kidney stones, arthritis, gout, joint pain, and osteoporosis.

Your Life, Your Choice

Just like elephants, plant foods provide plenty of protein for your
body and health.

Eating meat is a choice, your choice, not
a necessity!
